MISS MEGHAN HITS US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

along with sandra day and newt. hilar!

July 26, 2005

OH WHERE HATH MISS MEGHAN BEEN?

miss meghan has been in michigan. painting kitchens yellow, visiting grandma late at night and hearing the latest dirty joke, or another grandma who told miss meghan a delightful love story while she did yoga poolside (me not grandma doing yoga), or yet another grandma for her world famous chop suey. dining al fresco in michigan dewy summer eves, going to a photo shoot for strut magazine at the fabulous sole sisters in royal oak, and celebrating the mother of miss meghan's birthday. miss meghan has been soo busy she hasn't even had time to go to the village shoe inn! what is wrong with that picture?

meanwhile the flip flop flap goes on and on and on! what say you dear readers? (grandpa, i got your answer last night and you are right i don't think i can print it on my blog) dear readers let us just say that grandpa thinks that wearing flip flops to the white house is akin to making yourself look like a foolish person. ahem.

THE MANOLO SPEAKS RE: THE FLIP FLOP FLAP

"As for the shoe the Manolo he would wear to meet the Mr. President, it would be the exceptional pair of the black, John Lobb full brogue oxfords."

Ahh yes, Manolo, I have to agree, for men, this is the right footwear.

READERS WEIGH IN ON THE FLIP FLOP FLAP

"If I were to meet the President at the White House (regardless of how I felt about the party affiliation), I would dress in something like a navy Ralph Lauren pant suit, creamy silk blouse and a beautiful pair of chocolate croc, almost stilettos. It's the President for goodness sake! Have some respect for the office, even if he's not your man, or woman one day!"

--Dana, Atlanta, GA

"For an occasion like that I'd break down and get a pair of Allen Edmonds. When in Rome, etc. Of course, if we're talking being flown in in the middle of the night, I'd find my Sergio Rossis -- there is no sharper shoe. "

--Jordan, New York, NY

"I would wear a pointy toe skimmer or pump with a skirt or slacks and a proper blouse and seasonal covering (jacket or sweater)."

--Sharon, Montclair, NJ

"I know what I would wear: bare feet to show my lack for respect for the marauding band that rules this land."

--John, Seattle, WA

"My black loafers!"

--Jennifer, Brooklyn
*Please note this dear reader is a through and through loafer girl!

"My John Varvatos. I don't really have anything else, other than my blue and white anniversary Adidas."

--Sascha, New York, NY

"I would wear a pair of hip-waders -- the kind fly fisherman wear. That would make it easier to wade through all the bullshit at the white house."

--Monica, Marblehead, MA

MISS MEG INVITED TO COMMENT ON THE FLIP FLOP FLAP TOMORROW ON TODAY

7:30 AM SWEETIES!

APPARENTLY

the cool thing to do at the marquee is dance on the couches. while perched upon a high ledge there last night, i saw much boogying down happening on said couches. i have to wonder how the leather upholstery holds up to the plethora of stilettos rockin up and down? hm. maybe they should provide special couch dancing shoes. now not that kind of couch dancing silly.

ITS A HOT AND STEAMY MONDAY

here in NYC. this is a good day to try out Miss Meghan's flip flop tip: when you head home after a day of slogging through the ozone and humidity and the numerous city sidewalk secretions, take your flip flops into the shower and give yourself and your flip-flops a little foot bath. put a little shampoo in the bath, run hot relaxing water, let it bubble up, relax and enjoy!

YOU KNOW WHAT?

i'm going to throw lucinda in there as well. it's a very lucinda evening here in NYC. rainy, cool and introspective.

IS IT WRONG

to alternate your weekend CD soundtrack between garden state and lisa lisa and the cult jam super hits?

WOULD YOU PAY $5,000.00 FOR A PAIR OF SHOES?

that would be the price of a pair of flat claret crocodile boots from calvin klein this fall.i must say they are pretty hot. $5K hot, i don't know, but hot nonetheless.

MAY I JUST SAY

that i was at regena's this eve and every single one of those goddesses had on an amazing pair of shoes! from sparkly platform sandals to chic pink paisely mules to blue clunky heel strappy slides, i was just in awe at the variety of decorative shoe. even on ladies who were otherwise dressed quite plainly. oh and i bet you are just dying to know what our homework is aren't you? oh i may tell a little one day but for now i'll just tease you with a little droplet. let's just say is has to do with juicing things up a notch.

oh and i should add that a desire floated around last night was doing something fun while in nothing but your prettiest shoes. as a shoe expert i can only say that this is not an uncommon desire among women. perhaps my next book idea? hm.

GO CECE!

OH WHAT A GLORIOUS WEEKEND!

kicked it off with a meal at diablo royale. pork and pineapple taco is excellent as well as the margaritas on the rocks. patrone, salt on the rim of course! saturday brought a much needed day of rest and relaxation with lora. first we hit the acupuncturist to work out some kinks in the back, then on to the new uber-spa, cornelia, on fifth avenue. when i tell you new york has not seen anything like cornelia yet, i am not lying. it was truly an amazing experience. massage under a skylight, spa lunch on the rooftop, steam room, a relaxation library, detox tea, rainforest shower, the nicest people ever. needless to say we stayed all afternoon! a quick go around on fifth avenue (takishimya and bottega veneta) then whole foods for weekend snacks. later, i holed up in my pink flower cotton wrap and went to bed early. sunday i headed out for a mini-go around in my hood. hit james perse which is the most amazing store for lovely relaxing clothes that are both elegant and slouchy. baby clothes for adults, i'd say. they just opened shop on bleecker 10 days ago and already the place was agog with women trying on things and wearing them out of store. it was like a little party of shrieks and discoveries in the dressing room! i got an amazing dress and pair of culottes i'd been coveting all summer. next stop verve, where shoes are now 2 for 1 ladies!!! got another pair of chie's (how could i resist--plum slingbacks with a 3 inch wooden heel) and a pair of cream linen and leather calliste ballet flats.

bleecker street is exploding into a major retail destination more and more each day. but do we really need three ralph lauren stores on one block? yes it's true i saw construction beginning for another RL store.

lora came down upon my insistence to check out the james perse store where we ran into one of lora's clients and proceeded to have more shrieking moments in the dressing room. then it was on to brush for mani/pedi and home for a night with my ideas.

the fourth i woke up to the most beautiful day ever, heidi came over for breakfast, took a walk on the river, came home and hung out with my ideas, made a lovely dinner and stayed up writing.

did i mention like 100 hundred times before that new york is just brilliant on the holiday weekends. so empty and lovely. like the city is all ours.

kisses!
miss meg

CHIE CHIE CHIE

i'm crazy for chie. mihara that is. just got a sneek peek at fall. um. hello. why do i want every single boot in the collection when i can event THINK about a bot right it's so hot out. plum and jewel green suade, his signature round toe and the heel that is sturdy, sexy, easy to walk/run in. chie, won't you come to NYC?

THE RESTAURANT MASTER IS AT IT AGAIN

our favorite restauranteur jason hennings has unleashed his latest brilliant creation on the west village. filling a hole that had been completely lacking, he is unveiling diablo royale, a mexican restaurant with the best frozen maragaritas this side of cancun (trust me, i had one last night at the private opening). in his words, " the 30 somethings tortilla flats". jaosn envisons dancing on the bar and lots of other wild and fun adventures. judging by the spice of his salsa, i'd have to agree!
