AND DID YOU SEE THE TWINS IN SUNDAY'S ARTS AND LEISURE?

dubbed the "signature show" on espn classic! whoohoo! i caught a few mins of cheap seats last night and just about fell out of my chair laughing. their double johnny carson imitation was too much.

LIKE A SNOW DAY WITHOUT THE SNOW

did you know? that sacco shoes got their start during the subway strike 25 years ago? fred couldn't stand the sight of all those women walking around in reeboks and white ankle socks with their suits, so he created some comfy but fashionable walking shoes that would make it across the brooklyn bridge!

THEN I HEADED TO THE OLD GIRLS CLUB

where i chatted with all the publishing ladies. elizabeth, felicia, rachel, leigh, & katy & so many other fun female writers rockin it out. friday brought more cornelia, then hangign with alison castillo, whose book, the score, is positioned to be the next he's just not that into you, except it's like are you that into him, really? that comes out jan 3rd-can't wait to read it.
saturday hit cornelia for day number three, and had lucnhie with lora and jj, andrea and her man, and ellen and michael. then saw shopgirl with sarah. must note: if you see this movie, it is way too much marni for me. shoes were great though. amazing pair of white 1960's pumps that made an appearance in more than one scene.

OH MY DEARIES

such a fun filled week/end. i decided to let you marinate in the wonder of shoe therapy all week last eek but now I am back with many fun tidbits.

first, anne waldman wore some fierce red patent leather boots for her reading of "sleeping with women" at kenneth koch's collected poems and fiction party last wednesday. she really rocke dit out i must say. is at next to alex katz who did the art on both the covers of the books. he was very sweet as were all of the fab readers.

thursday i headed to cornelia, where i signed books and met the most fabulous fun people. jackie and andrea and ying li. ellen was floating about making sure everyone had enough champagne and hot chocolate, and michael was creating amazing displays and we generally all had a fun time trying on the designs of andrea and jackie and reading sections of my book to jackie's grandma who is a sneaker girl!

MORE REGIONAL RETAIL IN BROOKLYN

checked out the brooklyn handknit sample sale after having lunch with the girls at mary's fab new place in greenpointe (best quiche ever!), andrea found me an amazing brown scarf with delicate flower embroidery, but otherwise it was just a room full of giant ponchos. (the manolo would say, yuck!). then we headed to this new place. more french-only designers. even tho the website is highly annoying, the store is quite cute. dresses from designers like maje make it feel like an alternative to the pricier vanessa bruno. a lot of interesting knitwear too. VERy far down sixth, best to hit during the day as one more half block and you are in that wierd no man's land that feels like old billyburg.

HANGIN WITH HOLLY

at the katvan's fun studio on 17th street, that's us with all holly's cute skirts and SHOE BAGS in the background. holly and i swapped boots as soon as i got there just for fun, my tootsi pluhounds for her frye's, and i must say I LOVE the frye boot. never thought i would. its just so comfy and has a heel and is CUTE. anyhoo, we met lots of interesting peeps, carolann who makes the most luxe hats and coats, colette who makes fabulous vintage pins, diana, mystelle, and jill stopped by too just for fun. we ate chocolate cookies from city bakery and i signed books, and one woman bought the apron right off my body! ok it was holly's apron and i was modeling it for her, but still, i felt . . . naked.

BOYS OF BARAKA AND SPA TALK

surely those two go together don't they? had too much fun at the nyc premiere of boys, heidi and rachel did q and a afterwards, while we all wiped our eyes dry. that movie gets me EVERY time in all different places! met michael the nice publicity director at the forum who has been so supportive of the film, hung with sarah, lora and jj, rayya and gigi, jenna and ernani, kumar, juliet and chris, karen, PJ and nancy, and all the peeps afterwards at the mini-soiree where i also had the good fortune to talk spa talk at length with michael and meet his chamring man, ed, who wrote the book i've just been pining to get my hands on. ooohwee! i am going to read it this weekend!

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE POPE'S SHOES FOR ONE MINUTE?

the manolo has rightly commented on the prada red slippers of the pope. in my own miss meghan shoe analysis way, i must say that this pope may have a bit of the inner wild man in him. methinks he may surprise us all with some very modern and forward thinking proclamations.

FASHION TAKES A NEW TWIST

today marks the debut of insidefly, the new DVD fashion magazine with contributors like labtonic, Boudicca, Cloak, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent and Y3, in video fashion editorials set to music. it's a bold new concept that i really quite like, the idea of your favorite looks coming to life in a well-thought out way, along with short documentaries on culture-makers, i think will prove to be quite an interesting spin for the fashion industry. they have already caught the attention of large corporate advertisers like calvin klein who think the idea has some legs. i had a chance to hang at the studio with the editors along with nima from labtonic in september during fash week and i got a sneek peek at all the content for the next few issues. very intriguing stories with evocative moods and great music of course.

MISS MEGHAN GETS OUT THE SERIOUS BOOTS

today it is about 1 degree here in manhattan and i have officially gotten out my serious winter boots. these are the ankle high, flat suede calliste boots with the fur spats that zip up over them to the knee for maximum furriness and warmth. beginning now until march1 this is basiclaly all you will see on my feet! LUCKY IN SCENTS!

what does your scent say about you? two guys (Franco Wright and Adam Eastwood) who brought you fred segal's website, are now bringing the rarest, hottest, and most exclusive new perfume brands to their site LuckyScent.com --and organizing them according to sign!. it is so miss meghan this concept, i love it!! what fun! according to them i should get myself into this fragrance, which has essence of tonka bean!!

NAILTAXI: WHAT AN INGENIOUS SERVICE!

i love this concept. do they travel to nyc?

MISS MEGHAN MAKES A PIE!

in advance of thanksgiving i thought i'd try my hand at whipping up one of my fave apple pies. (note to self: fresh vanilla bean is very strong!) i had a lot of extra energy last night and stayed up till 11:30 to create this pie of perfection. we topped it off with some heavy whipping cream to which we added a bit more of the super strong vanilla bean and some maple syrup. it was major!

November 20, 2005

WHO DOESN'T HAVE A FAB TIME HANGING WITH SAL?

we met up for a quick drinkie at the regency before we both went out into the night. sal giving me all the latest dish from hollywood--watch for syriana--the new george clooney movie is supposed to be major! we both in black riding boots, sal in a fab black velvet jacket and me in my sparkly vintage coat with the fur trim. we had fun time, then sal dashed out to the west and i to the east villages. met up with jordan and poet friends at anyway for a chocolate martini and the best chocolate caramel fondue, heidi and jenna joined for more fun then we headed back uptown in the worst raffic ever. fortunately we have the new madonna CD to jam out to when in a jam.

November 19, 2005

WE HIT BOBBITOS PARTY FOR A QUICK SEC BEFORE HEADING HOME!

MID PICTURE YOU'LL SEE THE BACK OF ME IN MY PARTY DRESS.

WHEW! MISS MEGHAN IS TIRED!

we had so much fun last night! jaromir jagr's skates got snapped up in a hot pre-event bid, amanda beard stopped by with her winning smile and cute michael kors leopard round toes pumps (and she bid on eddy curry's kicks!), sarah lukashok from luna vida came and bid on a pair of peep-toe pony hair bettye mullers, marianne and elivira kept me juicy, courtney spun some amazing tunes, of course kicking off the night with hung up. mario winans peeps came thru to check out the action, the always stunning blond boys stayed until the very end (have u seen their new line yet? am so excited they are doing apparel now too!) looking elegant and sipping champagne! o wow! it was really quite fun! we raised a lot of money for city harvest they tell me and don't forget bidding continues through thanksgiving so if you are angling for a pair of cesare paciotti pumps or diddy's signed kicks you still have a chance! pictures to come!

LAST NIGHT WITH MARY LEE'S CORVETTE

i had the pleasure of introducing mary lee's corvette at lakeside lounge. heidi came down and we rocked out to mary lee's amazing set. fans from the UK, california and michigan travelled to see her play. wow! she is so talented--if you dont have her CD yet, must get!!! she was wearing her ankle high red patent leather shoes and her whole band was awesome, espec ann klein on the guitar, eletric ukelele and slide!

heidi and i took pics in the photo booth --which is the best one in nyc FYI, then we hit san loco for a quick taco. mmm. i miss those guaco locos!!! a taco wrapped in another taco with guacomole inbetween.

EVERYBODY'S WORKIN' FOR THE WEEKEND

friday at luckyshops was awesome. hung out with all the lucky girls at my little podium and signed more than 300 books! farrah came by, krista from sergio rossi and michelle from shefinds to suss out all the great deals. which were many. by the end of the day marc jacobs collection bags were going for 50$ and notify jeans for $100! you know i got myself some notify! also slipped into two pairs of some of the most comfy jeans i've ever worn, serfontaine. the jeans whisperer from barneys hooked me up with the perfect fit. then sal came and picked me up, she was wearing some fierce low heeled riding boots) we hit fashion 40 for a quick mojito before she went off to LES for dinner and j and i headed to restaurant row to meet up with my auntie and uncle. many glasses of gavi de gavi and a giant slab of bittersweet chocolate mousse later, we headed home.

TONITE AT LUCKYSHOP!

is luckyshops fun event! what will miss meg wear? i am thinking a fab slinky black silk dress from ports (it's black sueded silk with a blouson top and hangs below the knee) some turqoise tights and red stilettos! is that soo too much? i am feeling like FUN though!

YESTERDAY I WAS JUST SO PLEASED

with my sock and shoe combination. i was wearing a deep azure blue lace patterned knee sock with my lavendar leopoldo girodano ruched ballet flats and everytime i looked down at my feet oh didn't i just get a squeal from myself! ladies this is a lesson. change up the socks and tights this fall to add a little excitement in your life! you see these particular ballet flats i had grown bored with, and with the simple addition of some zing in the form of a sock, i was energized once again.

November 2, 2005

SNIFF SNIFFLE

that's the sound of miss meg and her little cold. it is petite this cold but it is there nonetheless. i have to say i have been wearing my faux cowbo boots everyday this weekend and week. i love it when you reach deep into your closet for something and rediscover a little gem like these. bought at tootsi back when the buying was good there (circa 5 yrs ago) also around teh same time that i bought my deep forest green miumiu ankle boots and red sparkly dries van notens that i used as a table centerpiece for 6 months before subjecting them to the mean manhattan streets. those were halycon days of shoe obsession i must say. and when i wear my faux aubergine cowboy boots i am transported back to those days! what fun! living in the east village on a 6th floor walkup that guaranteed i would have tight ass from all the many stairs i climbed each day!

November 1, 2005

CHLOE SPRING 2006 READY TO WEAR

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE? IT'S A MARY JANE, PLATFORM, WEDGE. EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK!

while they may be dangerous to walk in, i think they are rather winning and cute!

MISS MEGHAN HAS A SORE THROAT

and has spent a little time propped up among the pillows, drinking copius amounts of lemon ginger tea with honey and wearing her favorite new slippers which are really someone else's old slippers but are oh so comfy and put her in the bedroom slipper kind of mood (see my book for full
explanation). while miss meghan does NOT like being sick and in fact tries to pretend she is not sick and does all sorts of things to pretend she's not sick like work, work, work and not rest, putting on the slippers helps her remember that one can be cozy and cute while being sick. which can make it a teensy bit more fun.

October 27, 2005

I AM OFF TO MEET ISAAC

mizrahi that is!!!! eek! can you believe! i am going to be a guest on his new talk show on E!. too fun.

also--i met isaiah thomas on monday night and i am ahppyt o report he wears square toed slip on style shiny dress shoes. but more about that later, right now i am going to get unzipped!!

October 24, 2005

WHILE LAST WEEK WAS A WEEK TO BRING OUT THE COWBOY-ESQUE BOOT

this week is the week to bring out the flat black suede boot with it's accompanying matching black zip-up spat lined in some kind of warm fur. being fully furry (faux or real) is a necessity when the temp drops in the autumn. i have my jeans tucked IN, a chunky fab black sweater i nabbed at target, my AG's and a fabulous wooden green bangle. fall is fun!

October 19, 2005

EVEN THOUGH WE LOOK VERY CUTE

this was on the fourth day of WSA and marina and I are super sweaty (excuse me, glistening) and gulping down as many cosmos as possible to deal with the heat on the 5th floor of the venetian as everyone else who had the same idea as us came to crowd in. after four days of alternately getting lost in the venetian and interviewing shoe designers while wearing my 3 inch chie miharas (excuse me WHY did I think that was a good shoe to walk miles in?) i was beat. and marina had written probably like 100 orders that day so she was too. but we managed to have fun, eat some strange appetizers and crack up at fabbi's jokes. fortunately rodney whisked me to dinner later at somewhere fabulous in the bellagio where i recovered. see my pretties, being a shoe guru is not always so glamourous!

October 17, 2005

CAN WE TALK

about this new phenomenon. the clog boot. part of me thinks oh! how practical for the winter, how cozy, how bohemian. and part of me thinks NO STOP with the uggification of shoes. clogs were never meant to be boots and have shearling and furs and things. they were meant for chefs and nurses and people who need to walk a lot and be on their feet and be cozy.

i am having a split personality moment. the stiletto girl in me says never clog. the ballet flat girl in me says clogs might be comfy in the winter for the long walk to the subway. i am going to let them duel it out and i will let you know what happens at the end of the day.

October 10, 2005

REUNITED

thats right. 8th grade reunion here in downtown farmington. gotta love it. so many peeps came out and all of them asked me to look at their shoes. and i have to say there was a pretty great selection. from angie and heather's black stiletto boots to carla's round toed brown patent pumps, to mike's state trooper casual lace-ups to scott thompson slip on loafers (man on the go!) there was quite a variety i must say. i sipped vernors and caught up with kerry and dana and carla and dee and cindi and jack and shannon and jim and cristina and scott and mark fraser and kevin and his wife and heidi dillion who didnt look like heidi dillon at all! wow I know i am forgetting people here. paul and his wife bravely donated their first night out since having their babe to our reunion which i found admirable. she had MAJOR shoes on by the way--uber stilettos! i love it when moms rock it!!

October 8, 2005

IT'S ALL ABOUT DANNY GORMAN

why? because for some reason raguso was convinced that he would make the perfect match with amy. or maybe it just amused him to say it? we don't really know. anyhoo, signing at imelda's closet was so super fun. beth and jamie did an amazing hostessing job and all the LNO came out to give support, buying books, shoe calendars and even my two grandmas stood outside on the sidewalk to do some serious PR! then all the mercy girls came by, the above mentioned amy, nicole, karen and heather showed some serious love chatting away mercy style and discussing all things extrav-DANZA and otherwise!

we hit 220 for din, then DOD for some key lime pie martinis (stoli vanilla, pineapple juice and rose's lime juice) and snakebites. it was very chilly and i was looking super-chic let me tell you in my elegant ports1961 dress, raguso's eddie bauer puffer vest and a giant ziploc bag with all my book-signing pens! birmingham did NOT know what hit it.

October 5, 2005

ALSO

wedges have been on my mind. ever since sarah jessica wore those fierce pierre hardy ones in london. what say you dear readers about the wedge? love 'em? hate 'em? write in today!

IF YOU ARE IN MICHIGAN TOMORROW

have me sign your book at imelda's closet in birmingham. with super juicy delicious shoes right in the heart of downtown, it will be a blast!

NEW BALANCE ON THE A TRAIN

riding the A train this morning, I was surrounded by new balance! has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? grey. blue. white. everywhere i turned a new balance!

October 1, 2005

A PEEP-TOE POSTSCRIPT

turns out my jennifer love hewitt statement that jennifer IS a peep toe pump was spot on. she wore her peeps on ellen yesterday morning with a very cute sassy dress!

WHOEVER THOUGHT UP THE BRILLIANT IDEA OF

HAVING A TV FESTIVAL

is a very very smart and fun person. i went to the panel with bigwigs nancy dubuc, michael hirschorn, lou wallach and jon lafayette yesterday and it was really quite illuminating to hear them take the mysterious veil off of TV programming and learn how the networks are dealing with broadband convergence. but ENOUGH with this serious tech talk--nancy was wearing the coolest glittery gold grecian inspired thong sandals! they really blinged up the stage in a nice way i must say.

September 30, 2005

IN HER SHOES--MUST SEE THIS WEEKEND!

everyone i know has been telling me to see this movie and farrah nicely put me on the list for a sneak preview last night.

put it on your lists of to-dos this weekend my sweets, especially if you have a sister!! i dont even have a sister and i was weeping my eyes out. in a good way.

cameron diaz and tony colette both incredibly charming and engaging and very fetching. and finally a movie that is not about the man getting her guy! i mean, she gets her guy but it is the background. the real story is the complex sisterly duo, and all that complicated family stuff that is so layered and rich. and there's lots of poetry! read aloud! this bodes well for both shoe experts like myself and poetry experts.

and the shoe closet was wayyyy too major. it is a shoe closet only available to those with enormously giant apartments here in nyc or those living out of town. personally i would have liked to see more bright color in the shoe closet but i must say they did quite an excellent job!

TODAY IS A DAY FOR BOOTS

i got to take out one of my fave pairs of boots this morning because it is a nippy 55 degees here in nyc. they are my oldies but goody, tootsi pluhound, 6 year old, cowboy-esque, deep aubergine now turned a bit brown, repaired and resoled five times, boots. i love these boots. they make me feel like i am get anything done and i can tool around the city feeling like i have a heel on and like i can get down in the dirt if i need to to make things happen. that is the power of the cowboy-esque boot.

September 29, 2005

WHO'S THE BOSS?

so tony was hilarious this morning! so fun! i had a ball with terri and brian as usual, and then i analyzed the women's shoes for tony so he'd know how to handle a lady in stilettos!! hee hee. marina and leon came out to the show to cheer me on and courtney of course styled me up something fierce.

so the other thing is, i was also on TYRA today! yes it's true, my segment aired today and i am told it was lots of fun. even though as i remember i was sweating and trying to remember what i was saying, apparently it came out well, which is probably due to tyra's brillant hostessing!

September 27, 2005

ALL ABOUT MEEEEE!

did you check out the interview with me on gothamist? rachel did such a good job don't you think? and ps. i am reading in her fab new series on october 19th.

September 26, 2005

APPARENTLY

according to stacy , my childhood friend who wrote in from houston today (she and fam are all safe!) i used to pretend i was martha quinn when we were like 7. apparently i was convinced i was destined to be a veejay. shoe-strologer is close, don't you think?

September 25, 2005

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF

THESE FAB SHOE DISPLAYS?

September 22, 2005

TONY DANZA, LIZA MINNELLI, LARRY KING, CYBILL SHEPARD AND MY NEW HAIRCUT

Well dear readers, I went to uber-fabulous tony danza show where everyone was absolutely the nicest person I have ever met. I hung with liza in makeup (she was wearing black patent loafers!) then brian cut my hair (he was wearing hybrid cowboy motorcycle boots) and then SOMEone , I can't say who talked too long, so we had no time to talk about shoes. But rest assured I am going back next week and it is going to be a very long, live juicy segment!!! Stay TUNED to all things miss meg.

September 21, 2005

MARY LEE'S CHAUSSERES OUT FOR A LITTLE SUN ON THE FIRE ESCAPE!

mary lee is a big famous singer but i think she may also have another career as a shoe stylist! whaddya think?

DON'T YOU WANT SOME SHOE THERAPY?

oh i think you do! what if i came over to your house and we went through all your shoes together? and i gave you a whole bunch of tips and tricks to take care of your shoes. and we threw out a whole bunch of your shoes that didn't work? and we analyzed your lifestyle and your shoe challenges? and then i gave you a written prescription for shoe happiness? wouldn't that be fun?!

"Dear Miss Meghan:

My new plaid Archeys are so very fashionable. Everyone who cares about setting the pace should have a pair to lead them to the front of the race. "

September 16, 2005

WED THURS AND FRI!

the million poems rocked it out with anselm and linda, then grace rocked it even harder! wow! is literary making a comeback?

thursday was all about the sergio cocktails at wooster store and then the old girls club. a woman stopped me on the street on the way over. she was concerned about my safety in my 4 inch tri-color python pumps on the cobbled street. amy and i assured her i would be ok and i tottered into the store where we munched on delicious appetizers and talked to vanessa about her cute new baby girl's gucci loafers.

tonight i am getting ready for mine and ludivine's EVENT TOMORROW. if you are in nyc you MUST come over and have some champagne tomorrow from 12- 4pm, 172 west 4th street, just west of 6th avenue. see you there sweeties! xo missm

September 13, 2005

MARY AND I MEANT TO GO

here, but instead we ended up here. which was ok because in the end all we really wanted to do was gossip and catch up after her croatian vacation. and we got to hear two fab poets, tyehimba jess and ange mlinko, read to boot as well as catch up with chris stackhouse, ted mathys, matthew zapruder. mary was looking fab and tan and had the most elegant sandals on her red nail polished feet -- aerosoles!

September 12, 2005

FLIP FLOP

FEELINGS

THEN AFTER THE BLOND SHOW

jade and i stood in actual LINE for magnolia cupcakes (can u believe?!) and headed to brooklyn for the supercreator's rooftop bday bbq. with twinkly lights, a cool breeze, much buffalo, red wine and cupcakes we watched a few baton twirlers, the planes on the flight path into laguardia, and the two columns of light where the towers used to be.

BOTTLED BLONDE

wow. blonde's show last night was major. while i knew them from their patricia field, jean and shoes encrusted with shells and diamante days, they showed a totaly comprenhensive HOT sexy collection yesterday. high waisted champagne silk pants, painted on gold mini's, graphic metallic bathing suits with jewels, plum silk shiffon empire waisted dresses (think red carpet). and of course the ever-present naked lady covered in gold paint swinging on the trapeze high above the runway.

FASHION WEEK - WHEW!

fashion week has just started and already i am worn out. wed i hit jason's party and hung with all the cool kids, mark, david, courtney, lora, tracy, ludivine, chuckie. discussed the merits of pat benatar in depth, the softness of t-shirts made out of bamboo fiber, and how tasty the rose moet was.

thursday i headed to nima's new studio and saw a sneak preview of insidefly. a fash/lifestyle mag that will be on a DVD. then jaunted over to ports fabulous terrace on the west side where i saw spring, then watched the sun go down over the hudson with a glass of white wine and convos with jackie and mike and tony while we reclined on their new patio furniture. i felt like i was at the raleigh, it was sublime. then hit vonlintel to see john and the new izima karu exhbit which was beautiful women who were dead in beautiful landscapes. more wine and then heade d back to the west village where ludi and i finished invites and grabbed about 5 shrimp tempura rolls at aki.

yesterday i sported my 3-in chie mihara's and let me tell you, miss meghan cannot handle the stiletto for longer than 3 hours in hot weather. simply DOES NOT work. i need some fierce carmen ho or prairie de paris flats to get me through this fall, oh yes i do.

SINGING, SWIMMING AND GRIFTING

could you imagine a better weekend? got to jam out to some stevie with chris on friday at united recording studio, swam everyday at carmine, and grifted a double feature sunday night at the big loews on 42nd street. (saw constant gardener and 40 year old virgin. the first one made me depressed the second one made me crack up. i laughed i cried, i paid 5 bucks. )

that was all in between editing my NEW REEL! with kev-- he did a fantabulous job i must say. and you be able to see it soon online when we launch the new miss meghan website next week. can you imagine how exciting?

TARA REID--MORE SHOE OBSESSED THAN MISS MEGHAN?

From THE DAILY TELEGRAPH this morning:

"Now we like our shoes as much as the next girl but booking an entire hotel room just for accessories? Only Tara Reid could get away with that. The notorious party girl surprised staff at London's Baglioni Hotel when she made the diva-esque request recently - despite the fact that they are used to catering for the whims of stars including Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton. "She booked herself into one of our most expensive suites at around $2,000 a night but then requested a second room too to keep all her shoes," a snoop told the Daily Telegraph. "It was absolutely bizarre. She said she'd collected all these shoes while she'd been travelling around Europe, but quite why she has to house them separately remains a mystery. The irony is that Miss Hilton was also staying but she was no trouble at all."

A TIDBIT FROM KRISTIN DAVIS OF S&TC FAME

when sal asked what her fave fashion accessory was, what do you think kristin said?

"Well the shoes! I have more shoes that will fit in my house, let’s put it that way. And I keep buying them! Its terrible! I can’t stop but its what the show did to me. I can’t help it. And you know how shoes make you feel. I mean they really change how you feel."

hello! a girl after my own heart.

GO FOR IT!

if there's something you've been wanting to do, and you've been waiting for the right time, or the right person or the permission to do it, then cut and paste the following statement from my blog, paste it into a word document, enlarge it into 32 point font and print it out and tack it on to your mirror in your bathroom:

MISS MEGHAN GIVES YOU FULL PERMISSION TO GO AFTER WHAT YOU WANT

see how painless that is?

and if you don't know what it is you want, that i cannot help you with. but questions like "if you could do anything at all everyday, what is it you would like to do?" may head you in the right direction.

RAYRAY HAS A VERY DEEP VOICE

and i think he should be the announcer on my show. what he will announce i do not know. perhaps he will just come on and random intervals and boom something very important onto the periodically and we will all look up as if the voice of God is weighing in on what stilletto to wear. how does that sound rayray?

PAT BENATAR AND ME

this morning i just couldn't resist blasting hit me with your best shot and we belong and of course, fire and ice. who doesn't like a little rousing rock opera to get the bod movin in the morning?

MISS MEGHAN GOES TO LA

i didn't want to leave the mountain yesterday but alas i had to come down the hill and back into real life. i woke up this morning wondering why the breakfast bell didn't go off, then realized i was at home in my temperpedic haven.

off to LA tomorrow to tape a really fun shoe fashion show for tyra banks new talk show! very fun! we pulled a lot of fun stuff and i think it will be a blast. sarah is going to accesorize me thank goodness!

August 22, 2005

ALSO THIS JUST IN FROM AMY:

paleolithic people in eurasia wore supportive footwear--how do we know this? their leg bones remaine dlarge and strong, but their little toes were much less developed, which means they weren't walking barefoot.

AFTER OUR TALK AND TURKEY DINNER

in the dining hall, Martha Southgate, G.C. Waldrep, and Percival Everett read to another packed house and lots of love. then we headed to the barn and boogied down with the entire staff, faculty and attendees. margo and amy started cutting a rug during abba take a chance on me, thom couldn't stay away from the nirvana "mosh pit", richard and tara and i danced it up to superstition while it rained hard outside. something about this mountain makes me want to smoke cigarettes also. what's that about? then we all headed back to treman where richard, perceval and i chilled with catherine barnett and whole bunch of other fab writers in front of the cozy fire, listening to jazz and eating old potato chips. yes it is true that miss meghan stayed up wayy past her bedtime--4 am! aack.

rayray i got your message--no cell service up here on the mountain. will call u when we head down!

August 21, 2005

A GREAT TALK

by this guy this morning. after a night of torrential rain it's been sunny and idyllic all day. since i'm on bread loaf time it means doesn't feel like sunday nor any other particular day either, just bread loaf day. but i did read the sunday times on the porch in a rocking chair looking over the sunflowers, stone wall and mountain.

ALSO

amy and i had a fabulous time doing fashion show and tell with her amazing knitted creations. she is getting quite talented in this arena i must say. when pausing to look down at my black and white lace - up cecechin sneakers, amy noted that they seemed like something the child catcher in chitty chitty bang bang would wear and we both fell out laughing.

then vodka and sodas at treman and admiring jill bialosky's baby blue thong diamante kitten heel sandals. starting to question whether i am losing my panache because i am not insisting on wearing stillettos to hike around the fields here at the loaf. but you know i am breaking them out for the dance tonight!! whoohoo!

LAST NIGHT

it was chris castellani and ellen bryant voight in the little theatre reading. there really is no place in the world for a writer to read where the love, appreciation and attention is so off the charts. there is such a real R-E-S-P-E-C-T because every sinlge person in the room has sat down with the blank sheet of paper in fear or excitement or sadness and gone forth to write something in spite of or in celebration of it all.

and ps. ellen bryant voight reminded me about that moment when you hear the poem and your head explodes. oh yeah.

August 20, 2005

AT THE LOAF

arrived this afternoon (after a short time getting lost in brooklyn this AM--you know brooklyn is like a foreign land to miss meghan), michael greeted us as we drove up, it is sunny and gorgeous, a reading is going on in the barn, then amy's talk, then cocktails, then dinner, then bonfire. you know the drill. drinking, talking, poetry, fiction, more drinking, long walks and adironack chairs on sloping lawns, and more talking and drinking and readings and craft classes and receptions and talks and drinking and the dance and talking and drinking. rayray, can you attest to this schedule? pls write in.

it is SO gorgeous up here and secluded and spacious and mountainous (?why can't i spell that right?) . no cell reception just email in the apple cellar which is where i am now. margo and i are bunked in the inn on an all-boy floor, thom is out in the wilderness. yusef was in the bookstore earlier persuing all the amazing books for sale and i was too shy to say hi. why do i get a case of the shys up here?. just talked to james hoch, he's teaching a craft class on feng shui and poetry tomorrow i'm going to, and our failbetter talk is scheduled for tomorrow eve at 5:30 pm, then the dance. can't wait to see everyone and talk and drink and talk. . .

also ed hirsch just sat down next to me and is trying to find google on the computer. he is hilarious. fun to be back in poetryland for a bit. it's been awhile.

READERS WRITE IN ABOUT MISS MEG'S TV SHOW!
KEEP THE FEEDBACK COMING!

"DIVINE MISS M:
Yes, yes I would watch a show (weekly, I presume) about shoes!...As long as there was some attention paid to men's (casual) shoes once in a while (men's work shoes are about as non-descript as a glass of water). I just can't figure out why it hasn't happened yet... XOXOXOXO..."

-----Wayne Brown, Tuskegee, AL

"I think a Miss Meghan show about shoes is a brilliant idea.

It needs to be nationwide so that clueless woman around me in the Midwest can see that there are other options beyond their white sneakers. Sneakers are great for running or walking several miles at the zoo, however when you go to work, even if you wear jeans, there are so many cute options. There are too many women who don’t know shoes and getting to them one foot at a time will take far too long.

Another benefit to having the shoe queen on TV is that we can’t all spend our days keeping up on the latest trends and the next big thing. We need help, once again especially in the Midwest where we seem to be the VERY last to know when it comes to style. Unless you are glued to the style network, surf the web to see the latest lines constantly or subscribe to lots of fashion magazines the next big thing takes a while to trickle over to us.

Besides Miss Meghan is beautiful and eloquent who wouldn’t want to watch her on TV?"

DON'T YOU THINK IT'S TIME FOR A MISS MEGHAN SHOW ABOUT SHOES?

me too. why don't you write in and say why you would watch a show miss meghan hosted about shoes?

THE VELVET SLIPPER

velvert velvet velvet is the word for fall. from sergio rossi's blood red velvet round toe pump (which has already sold out in fall 1 shipments) to bottega veneta's velvet t-strap pumps and knee-high boots with wooden embellished heel, to ysl's gold dipper velvet platform pump, it's all about that shimmery soft texture in deep jewel toned hues.

VELVET TIP: to keep your velvet pumps soft and pretty, spray them before you wear them for the first time, with waterproofing spray. layer the spraying by spraying 3-5 times, waiting an hour or two between sprays. this will repel dirt and sidewalk filth and keep them looking new for much longer!

ALSO

you know i was voted (unanimously) biggest class gossip at mercy high. well now i've been vindicated. gossip is good for you!

DO YOU WANT SOMETHING NO ONE ELSE HAS?

then run, don't walk to ludivine and get yourself one of the only pairs of tsumori chimato boots in nyc. go for the deep orange ones. they are MAJOR!

THE SKLARS ALWAYS CRACKING ME UP

here they weigh in on the men hairy back phenomenon.

SHOW ME LOVE

ye-ah, ye-ah. is it obsessive to listen to the same song like 100 times on a weekend? i'd say it was all sasha's fault for reminding me about robyn. and that song is just so good and BIG and what a giant pop song should be!

IN BETWEEN TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS YESTERDAY

i hung out with cordila at the river park in our bikinis reading the style section and drinking iced decaf with soy, and got a swim in at carmine street pool. the rest of the day was spent reading girly, and talking to the queen who always gives a good listen when miss meghan needs an ear.

August 13, 2005

THE ARISTOCRATS, SVSV AND JAY-Z-GOD CONNECTION?

aristocrats is very very funny. my favorite renditions were whoopi's and sarah silverman's (who i am a huge huge fan of, saw her live in the now defunct fez last year and fell out). i also liked bob saget because he looks so sweet and normal-guy that the delivery is just great. i have to say i would have liked to see the women get more play. and where were comics like wendy shanker, jeanene garofolo, alison castillo? i think someone should do an all-girl's night of telling the joke just to see what would come out!

went to the svsv photo shooot today, hung with lots of cool peeps inlcuding kareem who was shooting and david and a whole bunch of his talented friends at his friend bill's loft down on broome, right over one of our very favorite places temperley. svsv has a very cool piece for the ladies, hooded tunic with a kangaroo pocket made of fireproof fabric. hung around long enough to coooooool down then back out into the sweatbox where court and i stood on the corner and she explained what philly hatin' is and told me about the debate, who would win in a battle, god or jay-z? it's a trick question, court says, because jay-z is god.

HEAT ADVISORY

if you are like miss meghan and decided to walk all over soho and the west village today, please go inside and grab about five glasses of water and simultaneously drink them and pour them on your head.

August 11, 2005

MISS MEGHAN DOESN'T USUALLY READ THESE KINDS OF BOOKS

but wow this one is really woth it. great affirmations (miss meghan loves a good affirmation!) paired with powerful and not overwhelming action steps. when this guy talks about wealth it is obvious he means every kind of abundance, spiritual, relationship, friendship, home, family. and it is kind of hilarious to boot! i think he is very in touch with his inner wingtip.

if you read one non-fiction, change your life book this summer besides the perfect fit, this would be the one.

JIMMY CHOO FIGHTS, NEW YORK FORK AND ROBYN IS HERE

yesterday at the doublesecret jimmy choo sample sale the lines of women at the shoreham waiting for the doors to open were scary. i backed away slowly. there were many of them with a hungry look in their eye, sweating in the midtown sun, clutching their invites. move away from the stiletto starved woman my friend. move away slowly.

also, if you live in new york and you are like me working all the time, you know it is very hard to get yourself yummy healthy delicous organic foods for lunchie. now that has all changed with the advent of new york fork and suyai's superfantastic (to borrow a line from the manolo) cooking. she gets up and cooks it that MORNING so you dont have to! and delivers it right to you! hello delicious slow roasted fennel. hello grilled organic chicken with special herbs she can't tell you what they are but they taste so delicious. hello organic orange slices drizzled in cinnamon and wild honey and sliced almonds!

also, you may want to check out the new CD from robyn the swedish pop singer i was obsessed with when i was 23. i hear its maJOR!

August 10, 2005

OH MY GOODNESS

this british shoe designer has taken the meaning of spiky stiletto to a new and literal meaning. while we know the stiletto could be dangerous he has added an extra component to the back of the heel for extra weaponry. watch out!

DID I MENTION I LOVE THIS?

QUESTION FOR MISS MEGHAN

" Miss Meghan, I am seeking your advice on one of your most famed and loved topics--shoes. I was wondering how seasonal my favorite, fun, flowery shoes are and when I would be wearing them past their seasonal glory?

They are a pair of slingback, Enzo Angiolini, with a flowery print in shades of pink and cream on a black cloth material. There is also a black patent leather trim around the edge and the same patent leather is used for the sling back and there is a little black patent leather bow on the front.

My question to you and the debate around the office is, when must I stop wearing them? Can I wear them past Labor Day? There is a cream color on the shoe, but they are close-toed. I could see wearing them through Sept. maybe, but never into Oct. How and when do you know when shoes are out of season when they are close-toed?Thank you for your help in this matter. It is a reoccurring topic of discussion around the office every few weeks when I wear them. I would not want to be the fashion faux-pas around the office."

--Christina, Washington, DC

Well Christina, first of all I am so happy to hear that someone in DC is wearing what sounds like an extremely fun pair of shoes! You are quite cutting edge and I applaud you for stepping out and taking DC fashion up a notch.

As to the question of when. Since they are a closed toe slingback I would say these shoes are very appropriate weel into the Fall through October. Even with a jewel tone solid color tight that picks up one of the colors in the print would also be cute. Because they have a cream background does not neccessarily mean hey must be retired after Labor Day. I would say save pure white summery style shoes for that category (although there are some who like to wear a white patent leather pump with a black tight in the Fall too which could be a cute graphic look). Mostly if you are comfortable and confident in what you are wearing you will emit that it is the perfect look for that day so I say to you, wear them with panache and you come across as the belle of the ball!

SO MUCH TO TELL!

well saturday brought a lovely meal at sensai at the bellagio with rodney from fashion laboratory--they were the first to bring etro shoes to the U.S. and thank goodness they did! they also represent missoni. betcha didn't know missoni had a shoe line didja? now you do!

we had divine tuna tartare three ways and then played the $5 slots which was th eonly gabling I did all weekend. rodney helpfully pointed out that even though the $5 slots got you three credits (i.e. three chances to pull the slot machine lever) the $1 slots were a better value at 1 to 1 ratio.

August 6, 2005

PURE

is the new line from dkny debuting in spring 06. co-designed by the clark brothers. fabulous luxury suedes with the softest hand, rubber two-part soles, really gorgeous architectural styling. perfect for yoga class hanging at the beach or just being shabby chic.

MINK

doesn't use mink. or leather or any animal products at all. just goo old fashioned materials like canvas, velvet, titanium and wood. thay have fabulous shoe boxes whih double as shoe drawers and give away naughty aprons with every pair! also they name their shoes after animals like cock, beaver and. well those were the two that stood out in my mind when rebecca was showing me the line. i think there are more like rooster and pig too. hm.

JUST CONFIRMED

that men do indeed wear their sneakers to impress women. and who did i confirm this with? the all-male panel of Dao-yi Chow from Sean John, Steve Sifling from New Balance, David Nichols from KSWISS, and Marc Laidler from 310 Motoring, and Eric Rutberg from Titan. Also, I confirmed that they need to make high performance running shoes for girls in cute colors. (They weren't aware of this, but now they are).

BRUNO MAGLI

raided their archives and is doing a spring line of all their styles from 40s, 50s and 60s, fabulous heels, the capri sandal favored by jackie o,and fabulous square toed mid heels.

ALSO

have you seen this show? love it!

I DON'T KNOW IF I TOLD YOU

about the delicious satin bow shoe clips i saw at eileen shields. they are simply sumptuous. fabulous waterstained silk bows with a perfect clip. i tried to convince them to sell them separately so we could all have a pair for the fall.

August 5, 2005

SPRING TRENDS

slippers. the more the merrier. one can never have too many slips to pad around the house on saturday afternoons can they?

wedge heel: stronger than ever. in every kind of iteration: cork, rubber overed with leather (easy on the feet!), embossed and embellished, curvy shapes.

layers and layers and layers: linen and suede, leather with stencils and metallics, embroidery, grosgrain ribbons.

LAS VEGAS IS A VORTEX

which has me in it's clutches. from the moment i wake up and spin into the venetian to closing my curtains on the strip before i lay my head to sleep. missmeghan thought she'd be posting every moment of the day but the truth is, she got caught on row 5100 of the venetian suites where the hottest shoe designers are now residing: due farina, beatrix ong, eileen sheilds, loeffler randall, etro, missoni, kat chouteau, nancy nancy, kristen lee, satine and all their lines, manuela morin, leflesh, jour& nuit, elizabeth bartlett, maloles, olivia morris. and keep in mind my pretties this is only one hall of five floors with three halls each! i haven't even made it to the main convention center! miss meghan is in shoe heaven but her dogs are barking!

WOW

is pretty much all i can say. stevie wonder rocked it out during his 3 hour show last night. including a 20 minute rendition of superstition where he riffed it up on the keyboards, his coordination of some 10,000 plus audience members singing an old blues song, complete with men and women call and response, you are the sunshine of my life which had everyone sobbing and well.

he also suggested that shoemakers implement braille on their shoes so blind people would not have to wake up their spouse in the middle of the night to ask the color of their shoes should they want to go out. should one have to go out in the midle of the night.

August 4, 2005

AND I GET TO GO SEE STEVIE WONDER TONIGHT, HOW F-ING COOL IS THAT?

see grandma, i didn't swear.

ASHLEY, CARMEN, MINX, AND ANYI LU, OH AND SERGIO ROSSI. HELLO.

so girls rule that's true, ash with her fabulous spring of colorful suedes with metallic cutout insets, and introducing a new thicker heel that will not twist, crack or get caught in subway cracks, carmen is showing a FIERCE collection of subdued details like gold washed linen, and implmenting lots of yummy comfort details like putting the heel in the exact right spot under the ball of the foot for maximum hours on 100mm, anyi built in dancer's details like staccheto construction and fabulous heels, minx from new zealand showing the paula shell from new zaeland waters on some fabulous thong sandals. and then there is sergio. blending african and brazilian prints, luxe gold leather studded with rhinestones, orange crystal platform wedges, groagrain ribbon ballet flats and five styles in tortoise shell. i am practically shoe ful. can that be possible?

SO I GOT LOST IN A CASINO

doesn't everyone at least once in their life? i am now safely ensconced in the press center at WSA where there are no slot machines unlike the airport gate, the bathroom, the lobby, the lobby and did i mention the lobby? also starbucks is more expensive here that in NY! i topped 5$ for a soy decaf iced latte! okay you know the only reason i go to starbucks is because they have the tasty soy milk not the plain hippie kind. and they always have it! not because i am down with starbucks plan to take over the world.

am going to many style talks this week and i cant wait. donald pliner, richard tyler--oooh dont you just love his creations--and a street scene footwear talk with vibe mag.

ok. also i am so glad the internal debate i had earlier about whether to wear my ballet flat callistes or my 3 in chie miharas ended in favor of the flats. since i have walked about 4 hotel miles so far. hotel mile is carpeted and air conditioned, a bit different than an actual mile, but still.

LAS VEGAS IS LIKE A CREAM PUFF SUNDAE

warm and crispy toasty on the outside and chilly on the inside. also, the people are quite sweet.

SOME PEOPLE HAVE QUESTIONED MY TIP FOR GREEN SHOES FOR MEN FOR FALL

to you i say, check out the tretorn site, mens collection, the deep green suede gullwing.

August 2, 2005

SHOE IT UP!

some fun tips for fall. ladies: the colors you want to get into for fall shoes are deep plums and hunter greens. anything sueded textured, crocheted, knitted, distressed. the flat boot you will want more than one pair. the scrunched mid calf boot with saucy heel you will want one pair in a neutral color. the fyre boot? it's up to you. daisy duke has been making them stage a comeback, but do you really want to look like everyone else? don't know just yet but frye could become new UGG. tread carefully.

men: try a different kind of sneaker. the category is exploding right now and everyone from tretorn to nikeID build your own sneakes, to jbclassics is showing something tres cool. mix it up and take a chance with a hunter green suede track shoe or a multicolored designer trainer and see what happens!

MISS MEGHAN HITS US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

along with sandra day and newt. hilar!

July 26, 2005

OH WHERE HATH MISS MEGHAN BEEN?

miss meghan has been in michigan. painting kitchens yellow, visiting grandma late at night and hearing the latest dirty joke, or another grandma who told miss meghan a delightful love story while she did yoga poolside (me not grandma doing yoga), or yet another grandma for her world famous chop suey. dining al fresco in michigan dewy summer eves, going to a photo shoot for strut magazine at the fabulous sole sisters in royal oak, and celebrating the mother of miss meghan's birthday. miss meghan has been soo busy she hasn't even had time to go to the village shoe inn! what is wrong with that picture?

meanwhile the flip flop flap goes on and on and on! what say you dear readers? (grandpa, i got your answer last night and you are right i don't think i can print it on my blog) dear readers let us just say that grandpa thinks that wearing flip flops to the white house is akin to making yourself look like a foolish person. ahem.

THE MANOLO SPEAKS RE: THE FLIP FLOP FLAP

"As for the shoe the Manolo he would wear to meet the Mr. President, it would be the exceptional pair of the black, John Lobb full brogue oxfords."

Ahh yes, Manolo, I have to agree, for men, this is the right footwear.

READERS WEIGH IN ON THE FLIP FLOP FLAP

"If I were to meet the President at the White House (regardless of how I felt about the party affiliation), I would dress in something like a navy Ralph Lauren pant suit, creamy silk blouse and a beautiful pair of chocolate croc, almost stilettos. It's the President for goodness sake! Have some respect for the office, even if he's not your man, or woman one day!"

--Dana, Atlanta, GA

"For an occasion like that I'd break down and get a pair of Allen Edmonds. When in Rome, etc. Of course, if we're talking being flown in in the middle of the night, I'd find my Sergio Rossis -- there is no sharper shoe. "

--Jordan, New York, NY

"I would wear a pointy toe skimmer or pump with a skirt or slacks and a proper blouse and seasonal covering (jacket or sweater)."

--Sharon, Montclair, NJ

"I know what I would wear: bare feet to show my lack for respect for the marauding band that rules this land."

--John, Seattle, WA

"My black loafers!"

--Jennifer, Brooklyn
*Please note this dear reader is a through and through loafer girl!

"My John Varvatos. I don't really have anything else, other than my blue and white anniversary Adidas."

--Sascha, New York, NY

"I would wear a pair of hip-waders -- the kind fly fisherman wear. That would make it easier to wade through all the bullshit at the white house."

--Monica, Marblehead, MA

MISS MEG INVITED TO COMMENT ON THE FLIP FLOP FLAP TOMORROW ON TODAY

7:30 AM SWEETIES!

APPARENTLY

the cool thing to do at the marquee is dance on the couches. while perched upon a high ledge there last night, i saw much boogying down happening on said couches. i have to wonder how the leather upholstery holds up to the plethora of stilettos rockin up and down? hm. maybe they should provide special couch dancing shoes. now not that kind of couch dancing silly.

ITS A HOT AND STEAMY MONDAY

here in NYC. this is a good day to try out Miss Meghan's flip flop tip: when you head home after a day of slogging through the ozone and humidity and the numerous city sidewalk secretions, take your flip flops into the shower and give yourself and your flip-flops a little foot bath. put a little shampoo in the bath, run hot relaxing water, let it bubble up, relax and enjoy!

July 8, 2005

YOU KNOW WHAT?

i'm going to throw lucinda in there as well. it's a very lucinda evening here in NYC. rainy, cool and introspective.

IS IT WRONG

to alternate your weekend CD soundtrack between garden state and lisa lisa and the cult jam super hits?

WOULD YOU PAY $5,000.00 FOR A PAIR OF SHOES?

MAY I JUST SAY

that i was at regena's this eve and every single one of those goddesses had on an amazing pair of shoes! from sparkly platform sandals to chic pink paisely mules to blue clunky heel strappy slides, i was just in awe at the variety of decorative shoe. even on ladies who were otherwise dressed quite plainly. oh and i bet you are just dying to know what our homework is aren't you? oh i may tell a little one day but for now i'll just tease you with a little droplet. let's just say is has to do with juicing things up a notch.

oh and i should add that a desire floated around last night was doing something fun while in nothing but your prettiest shoes. as a shoe expert i can only say that this is not an uncommon desire among women. perhaps my next book idea? hm.

GO CECE!

OH WHAT A GLORIOUS WEEKEND!

kicked it off with a meal at diablo royale. pork and pineapple taco is excellent as well as the margaritas on the rocks. patrone, salt on the rim of course! saturday brought a much needed day of rest and relaxation with lora. first we hit the acupuncturist to work out some kinks in the back, then on to the new uber-spa, cornelia, on fifth avenue. when i tell you new york has not seen anything like cornelia yet, i am not lying. it was truly an amazing experience. massage under a skylight, spa lunch on the rooftop, steam room, a relaxation library, detox tea, rainforest shower, the nicest people ever. needless to say we stayed all afternoon! a quick go around on fifth avenue (takishimya and bottega veneta) then whole foods for weekend snacks. later, i holed up in my pink flower cotton wrap and went to bed early. sunday i headed out for a mini-go around in my hood. hit james perse which is the most amazing store for lovely relaxing clothes that are both elegant and slouchy. baby clothes for adults, i'd say. they just opened shop on bleecker 10 days ago and already the place was agog with women trying on things and wearing them out of store. it was like a little party of shrieks and discoveries in the dressing room! i got an amazing dress and pair of culottes i'd been coveting all summer. next stop verve, where shoes are now 2 for 1 ladies!!! got another pair of chie's (how could i resist--plum slingbacks with a 3 inch wooden heel) and a pair of cream linen and leather calliste ballet flats.

bleecker street is exploding into a major retail destination more and more each day. but do we really need three ralph lauren stores on one block? yes it's true i saw construction beginning for another RL store.

lora came down upon my insistence to check out the james perse store where we ran into one of lora's clients and proceeded to have more shrieking moments in the dressing room. then it was on to brush for mani/pedi and home for a night with my ideas.

the fourth i woke up to the most beautiful day ever, heidi came over for breakfast, took a walk on the river, came home and hung out with my ideas, made a lovely dinner and stayed up writing.

did i mention like 100 hundred times before that new york is just brilliant on the holiday weekends. so empty and lovely. like the city is all ours.

kisses!
miss meg

THE RESTAURANT MASTER IS AT IT AGAIN

our favorite restauranteur jason hennings has unleashed his latest brilliant creation on the west village. filling a hole that had been completely lacking, he is unveiling diablo royale, a mexican restaurant with the best frozen maragaritas this side of cancun (trust me, i had one last night at the private opening). in his words, " the 30 somethings tortilla flats". jaosn envisons dancing on the bar and lots of other wild and fun adventures. judging by the spice of his salsa, i'd have to agree!

IF THE SHOE DOESN'T FIT

miss meghan has a new life lesson: do not wear the shoe that doesn't fit. miss meghan bought the cutest pair of pinky beige leather thong sandals with a tiny heel (1 1/2 inch) at the village shoe inn whilst in farmington.BUT looks were deceiving! the classic thong sandal turned out to be extremely uncomfortable when walking the new york city streets. especially in rain and carrying a VCR (don't ask). miss meghan navigated herself very carefully. she thought that the shoes were comfortable--how could they not be when the heel was so small? but the next day, miss meghan woke up with a pain in her leg and her back. oh the pain. childs pose didn't take care of it. and either did the the yoga teacher. miss meghan has to go see the acupuncturist to rid herself of the pain. and still the shoes sit there, looking so unbelievably, deceptively COMFY. miss meghan looks at them and thinks rationally since the heel is not high, she should be comfy in them. she thinks if she had better balance, or more core strength she would not have had the back attack. and so today is the day miss meghan says no to the uncomfortable shoe. even though she has only worn the shoe once. even though it sits and looks at her. she says NO! shoe i will not wear you. i will give you away in the lobby of my building. i will wear grasshoppers to and from the office. i will only wear shoes that are comfortable.

can i get a resounding yes from the back of the room? if you agree, shout YES! right now.

oh yes. wasn't it gay pride all over my neighborhood yesterday. and while we love the gay pride, we do not love the epic tons of garbage on the street. blech. in other news, the 400 nice officers who were receiving their orders for the day DID let me down my street through a barricade--thank you new york's finest!!

me, i camped out in the cool of my apartment, put things back together after 2 weeks of travel and hunkered down with the best lemonade ever from cowgirls hall of fame.

it was a sumptuous night of friendship and revelry and i even got to get my stucchi's on with peanut butter silk ice cream before bed!! mmmmm. the next day we hit main street for more fun and hung the gorgeous caroline who showed us all the jewels her dad bought in paris from the opera company. they were amazing!! insects and chokers and big earrings dripping with rhinestones. i wondered what character wore each piece. then stevie threw me in the back of his glamour van and gave mom and i a lift back to teh bell tower. we headed home for a nap and then ladies night out with mary, gramma c and gramma p, and had a good laugh or fifty over the size of our salads at california pizza kitchen.
