from Amy in Ann Arbor, Michigan:
"Several weeks ago, little Bram was in dire need of new shoes. His mom, not expecting an answer, asked, "Do you want to go shopping for new shoes?" "Green Shoes," he said. His mom thought about it a bit, wondering whether she should choose the basic Buster Browns or look
further for green shoes. Of course with a childhood friend like Miss Meg, she began her quest for green shoes. After many local shoe stores failed to deliver, Zappos came through with several green options. Bram's mom had once again to consider: to splurge or not to splurge?
After all, he is only 2 1/2. She thought a bit more, and once again Miss Meg's passion crept into her mind, and the order was placed. And just in time for St Patricks Day, Bram is picture perfect!"
how cute is Bram in his green shoes? I think we can all agree that children are very good at selecting their own shoes. as I always say, could grow up to be the best stylist ever!

i have a second hand smoke hangover this morning. which is a good thing. and i will tell you why. for so long there has been no where a self-respecting downtown girl like myself could get her dance on. yes there' s bungalow(celeb only), there was lux(dirty w-burg guys), and looong loong ago save the robots (u didn't want to go there after 4am but sometimes you ended up there anyway), but happy valley seems to be the perfect combination of it all. guys in suits meet guys in seven inch platforms. fab hard house meets kanye. theo on the door, and then whisked upstairs where we had a perfect view of dita von teese cavorting in a giant champagne glass. sal the owner was wearing fab trainers. lots of ladies wore 1940's attire to get in the mood--see the pic of fab 40's inspired red shoes by one audience member. dita herself wore super high red sparkly platform heels with an ankle strap. which of course she took off before she jumped in her champagne glass. suzanne bartsch, hostess with the mostess, rocked her broken leg by wearing a flip-flop on one foot and flat on another. lots of fun dancers in the neon cage and on the bar of course. because what new york club club is complete without bar dancing?

the infamous viv pickle has left the building. or in this case, my block. in her place is a FAB new boutique, castor & pollux. i had a chance yesterday to talk to one of the owners, kerilyn. she stocks phillip lim, krizia, and a fab shoe line la dolce vita (see pic ) that make a very affordable (98$) perfect city summer wedge espadrille. easy spirit by tara subkoff are coming in soon as well. the whole viv pickle space has been overhauled to feel like a very chic and plush closet. gorge wheat carpet, textured wallpaper and lovely dressing rooms. between her and ludivine, do i nee really need to be shopping anywhere else in the nabe?
next we took a car out to red hook, where we previewed the four day old GOOD FORK restaurant. althought the cabbie was afraid for our lives on that strip on van brundt ave, we felt fab as we entered the warm, woodsy coziness of the good fork, and chatted with ben schneider and his wife, mila, the fab chef who came from savoy. boy they are cooking up some amazing food, wild boar anyone? and a glass of the best bourbon i have ever tasted. and you know miss meghan likes a nip of the maker's mark everyonce in awhile! he topped us off with key lime pie and apple caramel something. and we got to see his new house just down the road on coffey street. DID U KNOW. both fairway and ikea opening in red hook in a few months. get your real estate claws in now to this chic little urban pioneer outpost.
then when the night couldn't get any better, it did. jay called and said to meet him at TOWEL a fab new bar on 58th street. when we got there, we realized it was the also infamous TAO. oy! investment bankers on the prowl but we just sat down and tucked into a few good drinks before we headed over to 92.3 FREE FM to hang while the twins talked to these guys. jackie was rockin pink sauconys. and then omg. i almost peed my pants. everyone was REALLY letting loose and seriously some of the best 20 mins of hilarity i've heard in a long time. anuses, hitler and angelea lansbury were all made fun of in one breath, so you can imagine the vibe that was rockin.
ps. the twins cheap seats on itunes this month. download it ASAP.
then up this AM to get sandi some fab shoes before she headed back to chi-town. sacco of course for some fab cream flowered patent t-strap heels! whoohooo!!

in san jose, (see all pics above) the ladies sat down very properly in all the rows of white chairs that monica so savvily put out for the show. i felt so catwalk! it was awesome. during the 'work it girl" portion of the show when we highlighted cute styles for the office and i ask all the girls if they could be CEO of a company what would it be? we got E! entertainment, macy's and of course microsoft. now if a woman were ceo of microsoft do you think everyone would be required to wear cute shoes? perhaps they would have a shoe allowance?
note the guy in the background of the toppic. a serious stiletto lover obviously.
March 18, 2006

I sported some fishnets with my enzo peep-toes, and the ladies at laura mercier did a fab glam job onn my makeup. then we headed upstairs to the green room, grabbed a snack, and then rushed down to the stage on teh second floor. it was wild. tons of cameras and video, 300 ladies sipping shoe-tini's, team nancy from chronicle was there, shoe cookies, and an entire floor of shoes. can u imagine? miss meghan was in heaven! so many fans cameout and i got to meet both crisa from absolutely audrey and mika from fashion bliss in person, as well as coquette the fab glam blogger! melissa ad the glam team cameout tooo for some drinkies! too un! wait, can anything ever be too fun? i don't think so. especially when it relates to shoes!

"Dear Miss Meghan,
It was great meeting you at the Sacramento shoe extravaganza at Macy's. My mom and I had a wonderful time. I ended up with three new pairs of shoes! Now I must buy some outfits to match!
I just finished reading much of your book and I have to say that your analysis is right on! After taking the quiz, I learned that my Shoe Sun Sign is ballet flat with Open Toe rising. My personality is VERY similar to what you describe in the book. How cool that our shoes say so much about our personalities!
Work it, girl!"

miss meghan must addend her shoe clip searching. for the delightful crisa has written to the miss meghan from absolutelyaudrey, another fabulous shoe clip vendor! i am so happy now i have so many more to choose from. not one, but two fab shoe clip vendors. absolutelyaudrey creates clips from vintage shoeclip designs as well as her own, and has a VERY wide selection to choose from. from modern to classic and back again. the bridal collection is quite stunning as well. and remember ladies, shoe clips can multi-task--use them to jazz up the back of a knee high boot, a hat or handbag! sold at chic boutiques across the land, as well as the fab fashionbliss, these clips are a fashion shoe treat! absolutelyaudrey is really about capturing a classic moment in fashion history, when girls wore girly things, and pointy bras and all that fun stuff. now you don't have to go on ebay and bid for an old crusty might not work vintage shoe clip, you can evoke the same feeling here and they will be fresh and new for you! oh did i mention the meghan? see pic above. named for me i am sure!
i must also make an addendum to my shoes for the larger size foot article and note that samanta shoes will now be making ALL of their styles up to size 13! glorious news! samanta makes hot sexy shoes with a special insole she designed herself, to accommodate even the flattest of feet.

Shoe wardrobe's magic number: 5
These basic styles a must for the well-shod woman
By Kristin Larson
Special to the Tribune
Published March 8, 2006
You don't have to be as wealthy as Imelda Marcos or as fashion-obsessed as "Sex and the City's" Carrie Bradshaw to love shoes. Many women are a little crazy about them.
"They're instant gratification," says Lori Andre, owner of Lori's Designer Shoes in Chicago. "It's not like shopping for bathing suits. With shoes, you don't have to worry about those 5 pounds you gained. There's something about putting on a new pair of shoes. You just feel different."
Perhaps that's true, but if you find yourself always buying the same style of shoes, such as black flats or black pumps, you may need some fashion intervention. At least one shoe maven insists every woman--whether a stay-at-home mom or working professional--needs five shoe styles to complete her wardrobe.
So before blindly falling prey to another shoe sale, make sure you have your basic five needs met, says Meghan Cleary, author of "The Perfect Fit: What Your Shoes Say About You" (Chronicle, $12.95).
"These five styles are the place to start and are the foundation of a good shoe wardrobe," Cleary says. "They address every possible scenario, from going on a date with your husband to running around with the kids on a Saturday to commuting to work."
So what are these magic five?
To start, Cleary suggests having a black stiletto or, for those who prefer a lower heel, a kitten-heel pump. She likes Steve Madden, Stuart Weitzman and Nine West brands. Versatile and polished, heels can go from office to cocktails and from suit to jeans, she adds.
"The reason they're so important is because they're the shoe that makes you feel important and have more of a presence," Cleary says.
Second is a cute flat, such as a ballet flat or loafer, and Cleary likes London Sole, Nine West and Delman for fashionable and casual styles.
"This is the shoe you want to wear when you're booking around town and you have to get things done but you still want to look chic," Cleary says.
The third must-have shoe is a brown or black knee-high leather boot with a heel or flat, Cleary says.
"Boots are practical and stylish," she says. "In the winter, they give you warmth and look great with jeans or a skirt and tights. They're classic and can go from year to year."
Next, even if owning a pair of glamorous metallic heels seems impractical, you should have a pair, Cleary says. "Every woman needs a shoe they just feel so glamorous in as if it's their red carpet moment, even if the red carpet moment is just going on a date with your husband to the movies."
For these, Cleary says, think bejeweled, strappy and metallic to make them feel like dress-up shoes. And it's not necessary to spend a lot. Look to such stores as Payless and Nine West for flirty, affordable styles.
The fifth must-have shoe is a sneaker that's more stylish than a workout shoe.
"These are for the times when you really need to get things done but still want to look good," Cleary says, who loves the streamlined look of the Puma "Mostro" sneaker ($100, puma.com).
Although Andre thinks you can never have too many shoes, she agrees that these five shoes are a good starting point, and would like to add a sixth must-have shoe to the list: the shoe of the moment. She recommends picking up the season's hot style because, well, it changes every season.
This spring's hot shoe, for instance, is a wedge or platform shoe, she says.

*For more shoe tidbits, watch your local FOX station tonight as Miss Meghan will be dishing all things shoe and starlet.
Charlize: MAJOR. My personal favorite. Silver gladiator style Stiletto sandals. She's a modern, intelligent, forward-thinking goddess.
Hilary: Black satin T-strap. The T-strap girl has a bit of showmanship in her--she always knows the words to Broadway musicals and can sing them at the drop of a hat. Hilary paired them with black toenail polish--a very striking look, almost Goth. I think Hilary likes to rock her edgy side a bit, and she demonstrated that with her dark toenails in a sea of otherwise nude toenail polish.
Helena Bonham-Carter: Honestsy. The white patent round-toe platform pumps could have worked as a super modern look with the blue dress had she just sleeked her hair down a bit more. Her shoe choice definitely says she is willing to go all the way out there and take risks! Go girl!
JLO: A barely there Stiletto sandal paired with her Green goddess dress. She is confident, feminine and very relaxed in her skin these days, as evidenced by these very see-through shoes.
Felicity: One of the few to rock a closed-toe look, she wore a classic black Stiletto. This is a classy and elegant woman, who values the time tested, even when she pairs it with a plunging neckline.
Dolly: She wore her trademark 6-inch platform stilettos. Dolly definitely is a woman who likes to tower and is uber-confident in her femininity.
Lauren Hutton: Shoe statement of the evening. Black peep-toe wedge platform heels with ankle strap. This is a woman who is clearly deomnstrating she is a fierce fashion icon after all these years!

there among the Lanvin, Alaia, and Louboutin, Divalysscious moms and me talked the merits of Manolo vs. MiuMiu, the deliciouness of the cake Amy's Cakes baked for us and the gorgeous Stiletto cookies, as well as what do purple boots say about a woman. Madeline (see photo) also showed us how to pair pink and red Lanvin ballet flats for maximum effect. Lyss, Rita and Anna raffled off a HOT pair of Manolos, and the Glammas glammed it up!
